Jilly was two weeks yesterday which meant another doctor’s appointment today.
Brad and I placed our bets and made our guesses as to what her weight might be today. Keeping in mind that she was 7 lb. 9 oz. last Friday, and a newborn generally gains an ounce a day. I figured that judging by how she has seemed to grow and fill out in the past week, an ounce a day was probably about right. 8 lb. 0 oz. was my guess. As the scale calculated, we held our breath awaiting the magic number. It was an unbelievable 8 lb. 9 oz.!!!!! She gained about 2 ounces a day!! The doctor said that her turn around in weight is pretty unheard of.
The best part of her weight gain is that she’s allowed to go longer at night w/out waking her for feeding. So, rather than waking her every 3 to 4 hours a night, we can let her go every 5 to 6 hours. AHHH, the idea of that much sleep w/out waking is wonderful. Luckily, we already know Jill is capable of this since the past two night I’ve accidently turned off the alarm and gone back to sleep. She went 5 hours Wednesday night and 6 hours Thursday night. And, I still had to wake her both times. She a good sleeper, and I’m not complaining!
So here’s the official results of today’s visit:
weight: 8 lb 9 oz (60th percentile)
height: 20.5 inches (50th percentile)
head circum.: 34.75 (20th percentile)
